Chocolate "Bear" Cookies

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Chill Time: 30 minutes

Bake Time: 6 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:

  1. Cream together the butter or margarine, sugar and vanilla.
  2. Add the eggs. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients.
  3. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and blend.
  4. Chill until firm.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Treat Time:

Give each family member 5 marshmallows to dip in white chocolate mixture. Place on a waxed paper lined tray. Then drizzle the chocolate over the marshmallows. Cool before eating.

Give each child 1 ball for the body (1-inch), 1 ball for the head (3/4-inch), 4 small balls for arms/legs (1/1/2-inch), 2 smaller balls for ears, and 1 tiny ball for the nose. With a toothpick, draw eyes, mouth and a heart (fill in heart with red colored sugar) or use a candy heart. Bake for 6 minutes. Let cool 1 minute.

While the cookies bake talk about the importance of feeling the Spirit in your "heart" before you bear (share) your testimony.

It's true! This little bear won't fill your heart with the spirit, but it will fill your tummy with yummy.
